PM demands govt propose tougher control over timber by May 20

MOSCOW, Feb 22 (PRIME) -- Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the Justice, Finance, and Economic Development ministries to work out and submit proposals on tougher control over timber turnover and digital marking of timber before May 20, the government said in a statement on Friday.

Medvedev compiled a list of orders following a February 12 meeting with members of the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house, the government said.

The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry together with the ministries are also to work out proposals on the terms of development and conditions of a new edition of the Forest Code, the statement read.

The list of orders also includes an order for Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova to work out a solution of state regulation of sales and consumption of products that contain nicotine and accessories for nicotine consumption before April 1. In addition to that, Golikova has to work out suggestions to improve quality control over food and water in the country before April 12.

Medvedev also ordered Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov to prepare suggestions on additional financing of subsidies for plane tickets before March 20.
